Quantitative Research Assistant
Role Overview
As a Quantitative Research Assistant at Growth & Investment Agencies Ltd, you will provide rigorous statistical and econometric support for our strategic and investment advisory work. You’ll design and execute quantitative analyses, develop forecasting models, and translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for clients across African markets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement statistical and econometric models to forecast market trends, demand, and financial outcomes
Clean, merge, and validate large datasets from multiple sources (surveys, administrative records, third‑party databases)
Conduct time‑series, panel‑data, and cross‑sectional analyses using R, Python, or Stata
Apply machine‑learning techniques—such as regression trees, random forests, and clustering—to segment markets and identify drivers of performance
Build interactive dashboards and visualizations to communicate analytical findings to non‑technical stakeholders
Assist in crafting client reports, whitepapers, and presentations that summarize complex quantitative results
Collaborate with economists, data engineers, and sector specialists to integrate quantitative outputs into broader project deliverables
Maintain documentation of methodologies, codebases, and data‑analysis workflows
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline
1–2 years of experience in quantitative research, econometrics, or data science—ideally in consulting or an academic setting
Strong proficiency in statistical software and programming languages (R, Python, or Stata)
Solid understanding of econometric methods: OLS, 2SLS, panel regressions, and time‑series analysis
Experience with machine‑learning libraries (scikit‑learn, XGBoost) and model‑validation techniques
Advanced skills in SQL for data extraction and manipulation
Ability to translate complex quantitative findings into clear narratives and visualizations
High attention to detail and commitment to reproducible research practices
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Familiarity with cloud‑based analytics platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, GCP AI Platform)
Experience with data‑visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Plotly)
Published research or conference presentations in economics, finance, or data science venues
Knowledge of African economic, financial, or sectoral datasets (e.g., World Bank, national statistical bureaus)
Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical colleagues
Compensation
Salary Range: USD 50,000 – 60,000 per year
